Austin, Texas – Though many regions of Texas this week experienced inclement winter weather, freezing temperatures and ice, the state’s energy supply remains strong and the power grid has reliably performed throughout the weather event. The following statement regarding Texas’ latest winter storm can be attributed to Ed Longanecker, president of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO):
“The reliability of Texas’ energy supply this week, despite icy conditions, is a testament to the work and hundreds of millions of dollars Texas energy producers have put in to prepare and weatherize their facilities. Oil and gas producers have worked with local communities and regulators to ensure that communications remain consistent and open, the power remains on at production facilities, supplies continue to flow to electric generation facilities, and that natural gas storage levels prevent significant disruptions. Natural gas is ready for the cold.”
