Austin, Texas – Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Monday, May 22, signed House Bill 1818, extending the Texas Railroad Commission for another 12 years. The following is a statement from Ed Longanecker, president of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), regarding the passage of House Bill 1818:
By signing House Bill 1818, Governor Abbott has ensured regulatory certainty for the Texas oil and gas industry and strengthened oversight of energy development in the Lone Star State. The E&P sector is the key economic driver in the state of Texas, providing employment for hundreds of thousands of Texans and generating tax revenue that supports all aspects of the economy, including education, public safety, water conservation, and infrastructure development. The leadership of Governor Abbott, the Texas Legislature and the Railroad Commission on House Bill 1818 once again illustrates that state regulators and policymakers are best equipped to adopt sensible, yet progressive regulations for the protection of the environment, the benefit of Texas citizens, and the responsible development of oil and natural gas resources.
