TIPRO joins Congressman Henry Cuellar for energy roundtable in Laredo

Austin, Texas – Today U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar (D-TX) hosted a roundtable discussion in Laredo, Texas, involving oil and gas leaders, elected officials and agency administrators from both Mexico and the United States. The intent of the meeting was to establish a constructive dialog on future opportunities for collaboration in energy development between the two nations of Mexico and the United States.

The following is a statement that can be attributed to Ed Longanecker, president of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), who participated in Friday’s energy roundtable meeting with Congressman Cuellar:

We appreciate the initiative of our state leaders in engaging officials from Mexico on a joint energy partnership. On behalf of Texas producers and royalty owners, TIPRO was proud to have participated in this larger conversation regarding energy collaboration with our neighbors. We want to thank Congressman Cuellar for convening this group today, and other state leaders for their involvement on this matter.

In more recent years, we’ve witnessed a positive and encouraging trend as more companies from Mexico have invested in Texas, building new facilities here in the Lone Star State and partnering with Texas businesses. This in turn has generated new business opportunities, ultimately leading to job creation and economic growth.

The oil and gas sector supports a cooperative relationship between the United States and Mexico that will provide for an increase in energy production in both countries.

By cultivating an even stronger bond between the United States and Mexico, we will allow North America to have greater access to a more secure, abundant energy supply.

TIPRO looks forward to facilitating further collaboration, the dissemination of information, and cross border investment opportunities.
